SPAN 0326 - LATIN AMERICAN FILM AND LITERATURE IN TRANSLATION Minimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course pairs contemporary literature and film to offer an in-depth look at Latin America via authentic cultural forms. We will explore how Latin American writers and filmmakers distinguish themselves from European and North American traditions, particularly from the filmmaking of Hollywood. We will connect readings and viewings to contemporary political trends in Latin America, including the intellectual push for “decolonization.” The course is taught in English, and readings are in English translation.
