SOC 0715 - INTRO TO CRIMINAL JUSTICE Minimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the numerous elements of the American criminal justice system, from defining and measuring crimes to the major components of the criminal justice system (police, criminal courts, and corrections). By exploring law and society in general, including the history, structure, function, and contemporary problems faced by each of the elements of the criminal justice system, the goal of this course is to create a fuller understanding of the criminal justice system, the ways it impacts our lives on a daily basis, and potential avenues of reform.
