MUSIC 0641 - JAZZ ENSEMBLE Minimum Credits: 1 Maximum Credits: 1 The Pitt-Johnstown Jazz Ensemble is a performance ensemble that provides sectional and solo experience in a big band jazz and combo jazz setting. Musicianship and performance skills are focused on the different varieties of jazz styles. Idioms included are jazz, swing, shuffle, rock, funk, ballads, Latin, blues, and more. Creative skills will be developed through improvisation, performing, listening and analyzing jazz and popular music. The ensemble is open to all students and community members including instrumentalists and vocalists, regardless of major. Keyboard, guitar, bass and drum set players are highly encouraged to participate. Auditions ARE NOT required. Parts assignments take place during the first week of classes.
