SPLED 1033 - CURRICULUM AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT Minimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course addresses functional curriculum development and developing Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) goals for students with significant disabilities with an emphasis on age-appropriate life-skills and social and emotional educational programming. Pre-Service Teachers will apply a systematic approach to adapting the general curriculum and materials used in a life-skills classroom. Topics include the development of instructional design for students receiving a life-skills curriculum with an emphasis on functional academics and social and emotional learning. Topics include assessments and instruction for students with low incidences disabilities (e.g., activities of daily living skills, social interaction, developing language and communication skills for students with limited or no means of communication, leisure skills, community resources, developing pre-vocational skills, and functional academics-life skills curriculum, etc.) that are aligned with the Pennsylvania Alternate Eligible Content Standards.
