MET 1122 - MECHANICAL VIBRATIONSMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 An introduction to the vibrations of mechanical systems and the application of vibration theory to solving problems. Emphasis is on the single degree of freedom system and its application using equivalent lumped parameters. Topics include vibration with harmonic excitation, general periodic forcing functions, and general forcing functions. Two degree of freedom and continuous systems are covered briefly. Lab exercises include utilizing computerized data acquisition to determine natural frequencies, dumping, and response under forced vibration. Computer techniques included.
