This interdisciplinary course explores global human rights issues through historical, cultural, and local lenses with a focus on the Global South. Students engage with paradigms of human rights, social justice, and conceptual frameworks for understanding rights-based advocacy and justice work, for future application. Students critically examine colonial and historic legacies, local knowledge systems, and current-day human rights challenges and examine how structural inequality and community resilience shapes lived experiences and can advance regenerative futures. General Elective. May satisfy major requirement, depending on major. No prerequisite. Consent required to register.
