This course is designed to develop an integrative framework for managing crises in organizational spaces. Communicating and mitigating crises in a digital world is essential and multifaceted. We will explore prevention, preparation, response, and revision as it relates to crisis management and communication. We will examine strategies for communicating with various stakeholders while managing the dynamics of social spaces. Students will examine major scholars and resources, further developing their communicative competence and critical understanding of best practices for various crisis situations. This course addresses an emerging need for attention to crisis management and communication in many arenas of professional life. Students will explore foundations and frameworks and apply those approaches to a variety of spheres (corporate, sports, health, etc.) recognizing the depth and breadth of crisis communication in this historical moment.
