This course focuses on the nursing care of adults, including older adults, with acute and/or chronic illnesses. Students will be guided in critical judgement exercises and the use of therapeutic interventions and research findings in the management of adults. Nursing process, clinical judgement, and decision-making serve as the framework for acquisition of knowledge for the management of patients. Patients' mentation and physical abilities will be addressed in nursing assessments and therapeutic interventions. Societal and cultural influences and interprofessional collaboration and teamwork will be emphasized.
