BIOL 0132 - PRE-MEDICINE SEMINAR 2Minimum Credits: 1 Maximum Credits: 1 Second course in a 2 semester sequence. The seminar provides guidance for all students planning to seek admission to health professions schools such as medicine, dentistry, optometry, podiatry, veterinary, and physician assistant. Especially designed for pre-medicine students to take prior to applying to graduate school. Each Pre-Medicine Seminar is a one credit course that provides an introduction to the biomedical professions by incorporating a range of experiences, including guidance on writing personal statements, interview preparation, presentations by Directors of Admissions of Graduate programs, discussions with local physicians and other biomedical professionals, and application preparation. During the Fall seminar section (0131) students will focus on personal statements, interview preparation, and presentations by Directors of Admissions of Graduate programs. The Spring seminar (0132) will focus on interviews, application procedures, and writing essays. Students will also be given information for preparing for their placement exams (MCAT, DAT, OAT, etc.) Students will be matched with a Mentor who is a Pitt Johnstown alumnus in the same field of interest for additional application and career support.
