HIST 1405 - SLAVERY IN AMERICA, 1619-1865Minimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This reading/discussion seminar will consider a variety of issues relating to the enslavement and emancipation of African-Americans in Colonial America and the U.S., Including but not limited to: African origins, the Atlantic slave trade, the middle passage, early colonial slavery, varieties of colonial slavery, slaves and free blacks and the American Revolution, slave religion, slave society, slave families, the politics and law of slavery, slave resistance and rebellions, slaves and free blacks and the Civil War, abolitionism, and abolition.
